one of the many blessings of being human is that we get to exist in tandem with the ego. we get to soak up all of the nuances that define humanity and feel every conceivable feeling that the universe has to offer.
pop culture widely denies the beauty that can be found in humanness—but me? i like to point out all of the beautiful uniqueness in getting to live in it.

the “aura points” trend.
i’m sure you’ve seen the “aura points” trend circulating across Instagram Reels and TikToks right now.
at first, i was into it. i thought it was adorable and hilarious—a great way to embrace our cringe and roll with it while gaining internet clout at the same time. who wouldn’t want to do that?
but, as i sat with it more and compared the trend to some of my core values, i was increasingly pushed to dissect it.
then i decided that i hated it.
this week, i’m word vomiting that dissection to you in my chosen form: creative essay.
the aura versus the ego (enemies).
generally speaking (by the internet’s standards) the ego and the aura represent contrasting aspects of human existence and consciousness.
as i know it, the ego is centered around individual identity and self-perception within the physical and social realms. it encompasses our thoughts, desires, fears, and attachments, driving personal ambition and guiding our interactions with the world.
it plays an absolutely vital role in our psychological and social development, offering us a sense of identity and self-awareness that integrates our experiences, beliefs, and values.
in contrast (again, per the internet) the aura transcends the ego's boundaries, embodying a deeper, spiritual essence that connects us to universal energies and higher consciousness.
our aura radiates the energy connected to the things that make up our current core values and actions, like authenticity, inner peace, compassion, ambition, determination etc.
the aura is often thought to be untouched by earthly events and motivations, but, as the trend points out, our aura is actually susceptible to change based on the types of energies that are at the forefront of our lives at each specific moment.
the trend has applied that knowledge in an increasingly wrong way, though.
the aura and the ego (lovers).
the trend, as it stands, suggests that by leaning into inherently human actions, we alter our ego in a negative light, but the reality of the situation is that nothing in the universe works that way. it’s just not that black and white.
while the ego and the aura are presented as opposites, they are not mutually exclusive. rather, they coexist within us, influencing and complementing each other in our journey of self-discovery and spiritual evolution.
one will never outweigh the other. they constantly seek balance, dancing with each other to the tune of life.
the ego provides the necessary grounding in our physical reality, while the aura offers a glimpse into our deeper spiritual essence. together, they form a dynamic interplay that shapes our perception of self and our connection to the cosmos, blending the earthly with the divine via your existence.
that’s right. this show is alllll about you, baby.
simply being a human that does human things will never damage your ego, or “remove points” from it. if anything, it empowers your aura to be more aligned with your highest self.
but how do you know what’s aligned and what’s not? and wtf is the “highest self”?
getting to know your aura & innermost being.
nowwww we’re getting into the good stuff baby. i’ll do my best to provide resources and tangible steps to discovering all of this, but most of this is going to have to take the form of my own personal experience.
the first time i saw my aura was in the reflection of my own tears.
and in that fleeting moment, i understood the beauty of my own fragility. i understood that to be broken is to allow healing. i understood that to be human is to experience emotion at scale. i understood that to experience your aura is to fall in love with your ego entirely.
finally, i understood that my life’s meaning was to come here and ensure everyone touched by me learned exactly that from my story.
that’s the mission i follow on my highest timeline. that’s the journey my soul chose to come here and take.
when i'm in that state, i'm in harmony with my highest self—the purest, most authentic version of me, embodying my deepest values, virtues, and potential, guided by love, wisdom, compassion, and inner peace to rise above societal conditioning and external influences.
in the depths of all that was, i uncovered what is. i uncovered chances and revelations. i uncovered that truth and trends are but mirrors reflecting the calls for healing within.
which brings us back to the aura.
the first time you’ll see your aura is when your vulnerability is OP.
i know, “you’re kidding me”.
i hate to say it, babe, but it’s true. when you allow yourself to be truly open, when you embrace the parts of you that you’ve hidden away, that’s when your aura reveals itself. it’s in those raw, unguarded moments that the light within you shines the brightest.
and it’s often at the time you least expect (or want) it—it’s often at a time when you’ll only look back and see it with the gift of hindsight.
the aura isn’t about curated perfection, as “trendiness” demands. it’s about the messy, beautiful reality of who you are and what you’ve experienced. it’s about being courageous enough to own your true self, to connect deeply with others, and to allow the world to see you for who you really are.
it’s not about earning points or measuring worth by superficial standards and lack of “cringe.” it’s about recognizing and honoring the intrinsic value of your existence.
harnessing your aura and your innermost being.
there’s only one way to do it.
let yourself be seen.
let your tears hit the floor.
let your laughter be loud.
let your heart be unguarded.
let your testimony be uncovered.
let your emotions be raw.
let your dreams be reality.
let yourself receive.
let yourself do.
and let yourself do it all in the presence of everyone around you because only when you strip away the facade will you be able to find the genuine glow of your spirit.

This was such a gorgeous piece <3
Yes yes yes. We are an integrated whole and not separate opposing parts. Each part has influence over the others. ❤️❤️
