Befriending the Voice of Fear

Day 9 of our 10 Day Creative Freedom Workshop

Yesterday, we reclaimed our authentic creative voice. Today, we're learning to dance with the voice that often tries to silence it—the voice of fear, our inner critic.

(Become a paid subscriber for $5 a month for full access to this workshop, or, read the article that introduced the concept, You’re Enough, from our community’s open-access library for a brief overview.)

Join my creative revolution as we build a community where every voice matters and every story finds its home. Together, we'll unlock our boldest voices, and build a fearless writing community, together—are you ready to join the uprising? ✨📝👇

Let's talk about that voice in your head. You know the one—it shows up right when you're about to share something vulnerable. When you’re about to hit publish on your post. Maybe even when you decided to launch your Substack page this year.

It whispers (let’s be real it shouts) all the reasons you're not ready, not good enough, not whatever enough.

For years, I treated my inner critic like an enemy. I tried to silence it, fight it, prove it wrong. I read all the articles about "battling" self-doubt and "crushing" negative self-talk.

But here's what I discovered: Fighting my inner critic only made it shout louder.
