The way so many beautiful, unique creative voices get buried under layers of "best practices" and "content strategies" breaks my heart.
As someone with nearly a decade of experience in B2B Tech, Pre-IPO, Start-up, and other corporate-adjacent marketing teams, I see so many of my colleagues (and their colleagues, and those colleagues’ colleagues) get caught up in “doing it right”, and “scalable” rather than simply flowing.
And it turns them into a writer that is another person entirely.
I remember the moment I realized I was writing in someone else's voice. I was crafting what I thought was a "professional" piece, and every sentence felt like wearing clothes that didn't quite fit. My words were technically correct but energetically empty.
They didn't have my heartbeat in them.
